John McCain
Michelle Malkin has a longish post about John McCain and conservatism. How many of those of you who consider yourselves conservative could vote for him?
Addendum: There’s a televised Republican debate tonight at 8:00 Eastern Time, on CNN. I’ll be watching. Mitt Romney needs to hit McCain hard on immigration, judges, campaign finance, and global warming.

I am resisting the urge to hold my nose and vote for him anyway just to keep Hillary out, but the part of me that is resisting is contemplating writing in Fred just as a way to thumb my nose at the Republican establishment. I’m coming to the conclusion that if the American people are stupid enough to elect Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, they deserve what they get, and I’m under no obligation to vote for a candidate I don’t care for or support just to neutralize someone else’s vote.
I survived eight years of Bill; I can survive eight years of his wife as well because, just as he was never really able to accomplish anything until he started triangulating, neither will she be able. In fact, just like Bill, two years of her nonsense may in fact wake us up from our stupidity and result in another Gingrich-style revolution. Hopefully, this one would actually work.

Those people in Michell Malkin’s post have my thoughts exactly. I will let the Democrats win, wreck the ship, and let the Democrats take the blame for it. I will NOT vote for the McCainiac.

I consider myself a conservative and can bring myself to vote for McCain, especially when the alternative is either Obama or HillBilly (I really like that one). From the first moment thay would be sworn in, both HillBilly and Obama would begin running for reelection. McCain would be content to serve one term and walk away. The Supreme Court is too important right now to trust to either of the Democrats, and neither would command any respect among the military while we are involved in conflict on at least two fronts.
It would not be a hold my nose and vote scenario, as McCain has similar positions on the issues that matter the most to me: cutting government spending, making the tax cuts permament, pro-life, pro-military. Romney says the right things now, but his current stances on so many issues are diametrically opposed to where he was just 4 years ago: socialized medicine, pro-choice, raising taxes.
